٢And attentive to her Lord in fear,

Wa azinat li Rabbihaa wa huqqat

٣And when the earth is spread out

Wa izal ardu muddat

٤And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty

Wa alqat maa feehaa wa takhallat

٥And attentive to her Lord in fear!

Wa azinat li Rabbihaa wa huqqat

٦Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence).

Yaaa ayyuhal insaanu innaka kaadihun ilaa Rabbika kad han famulaaqeeh

٧Then whoso is given his account in his right hand

Fa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo biyameenih

٨He truly will receive an easy reckoning

Fasawfa yuhaasabu hi saabai yaseeraa

٩And will return unto his folk in joy.

Wa yanqalibu ilaaa ahlihee masrooraa

١٠But whoso is given his account behind his back,

Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo waraaa'a zahrih

١١He surely will invoke destruction

Fasawfa yad'oo subooraa

١٢And be thrown to scorching fire.

Wa yaslaa sa'eeraa

١٣He verily lived joyous with his folk,

Innahoo kaana feee ahlihee masrooraa

١٤He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah).

Innahoo zanna al lai yahoor

١٥Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him!

Balaaa inna Rabbahoo kaana bihee baseeraa

١٦Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset,

Falaaa uqsimu bishshafaq

١٧And by the night and all that it enshroudeth,

Wallaili wa maa wasaq

١٨And by the moon when she is at the full,

Walqamari izat tasaq

١٩That ye shall journey on from plane to plane.

Latarkabunna tabaqan 'an tabaq

٢٠What aileth them, then, that they believe not

Famaa lahum laa yu'minoon

٢١And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?

Wa izaa quri'a 'alaihimul Quraanu laa yasjudoon

٢٢Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny;

Balil lazeena kafaroo yukazziboon

٢٣And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding.

Wallaahu a'lamu bimaa yoo'oon

٢٤So give them tidings of a painful doom,

Fabashshirhum bi'azaabin aleem

٢٥Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing.

Illal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati lahum ajrun ghairu mamnoon
